Re: A few Questions before my first try at a planted tank

Quick question: If I place the PC light (Coralife or Eclipse) directly on top of glass tank cover, will it be Okay?  Since everytime I saw picture of planted tanks, they just use the light with flippable legs and no tank cover. I have two problems:

FIRST, the length of the whole tank is 60'', but my PC fixure is only 36''  Q: Will legs work if I buy them?

SECOND, in that tank has a 6'' Jardini (jumping fish)

Which light do you have? Most come with fans so the heat shouldn't be that bad...if anything make sure the acylic cover is still there and if you could prop the light up that would be good too.

The legs will not work when the tank is too long.

I agree. I have tanks done both ways, a couple not using the light's legs, and everything's been fine for quite a while now.

Not sure what the arowana has to do with it, though...Are you worried about the fish?

I think what he meant is that the aro is a dilemma since they are good jumpers......with the aro there is no choice but to have some sort of lid on the tank.

Re: A few Questions before my first try at a planted tank

Yes, my jardini loves jumping, even though it hurts itself several times. So, I thought about covering it with the plastic canvas once, but I think the plastid will melt soon or later. So, glass tank cover is best for mine.

I am in the middle of the deal for the new light for this tank.

            1) USED 36'' Orbits Eclips PC 2x96W (fancy one, with fan)     $125             (bulbs is from 3-6 months old)
            2) NEW   36'' UNBRAND    T6  2x39W (no fan)                       $45
            3) NEW   36'' UNBRAND    PC 2x96W (with fan)                     $90

Because the Unbrand light in aquatraders.com is so cheap. Should I trust in their quality?

Pretty sure Aquatraders mainly sells the Odyssea brand.

Oh, really. How come I did not see "Odyssea" it on the picture? So, all the T6 and PC lights on that site is Odyssea brand?

If you have looked into lighting like I have you eventually will be able to recognize all the brands out there.

Also I think it does state somewhere on the site but they sell nothing but Odyssea
