so I am considering a putting some plants not many just a few plants in my river project tank. I've read that java ferns do well in colder high flow tanks. What other plants do well in these conditions?

 anubias of course, if you decide to go with some rooted then aponogetons and valisneria like river systems. i saw one on natgeo that was really impressive, it covered an entire river bank. they called it dow noi, aka pogostemon helferi75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

 If you're looking for something rare and pretty cool, bucephalandra's are native to borneo's fast moving streams, look similar to anibius, they grow on driftwood and rocks, but I think they look cooler. They aren't cheap though
