Just saw a listing for baby panda bamboo and really tossing the idea around.

If I do it will be a HOB fuge on the back of my planted tank though. There's a member over on TPT that is selling a pretty cool HOB breeder box that could be used for whatever really and that would be nice addition to further soak up the nasties out of the tank. Also plan to stuff it full of peat moss as substrate to help lower my pH some

This concept but arse backwards, the main part of the system being my tank and the HOB as the terrestrial planted side.

Was considering doing one with the 105 custom tall, but altering humidity and dealing with the planting and scaping in a tall tank...... Not in the mood. We'll see. Maybe one day I'll get bored and convert it. There's some good articles out there.

I have looked over a few sites that had some terrific looking accesories, but never have motivated myself enough to suspend my lighting. As for plants there is a terrific shop over on 11th, Another place in Time, that has a terrific supply of plants for that type of set up.

Well there are different plants that don't require high humidity and can be used in an open top so I'm really tossing the idea around since the light over my 30g is way more than what I need for the tank, raising it up higher wouldn't be a problem.

I've been throwing around the idea quite a bit for the past few months, have not had the time/courage to give it a shot. I have a 29 gallon open top, my "show tank", which I am considering turning into one, they definitely look really cool. Wouldn't be hard to hide some canister tubing behind some plants/roots if you wanted something simple, filtration wise. An idea I was thinking was an apisto riparium, with a layer of leaves on the bottom, of course with the roots hanging down to provide cover/caves.

You can do what Tom Barr did with his, and breed L46 plecos in a plantless bottom; fish gallery has some, 1200 for a pair

My biggest thing was having/knowing of enough plants that would survive in a riparium longterm. Hydrophyte (who btw is very helpful and will answer his pms, obviously since he has a financial incentive to) only sells a handful of plants on his website or on the forums. From what I understand most plants just require a daily spray bottle bath, which shouldn't be all too terrible.

Yeah Hydrophyte is what started this urge to tear something up...

I don't care much for L046, kept them before and other than the awesome color pattern they do little for my interest. I think a tank full of gold bars would provide more enjoyment.

I'm thinking either supplement my planted/invert tank with this or pick up a cheap tank and do some oddball fish tank. I'm sure my halfbeaks and stiphodons would be amazing in something like that.

Haven't done one of these, but I had a vivarium in a 20-g. I have (and I think I talked about this before) wanted to do something similar with archerfish.

I don't, unfortunately. The vivarium never made it to Houston with me (think: the dart frog tanks at City Pets, but in a standard 20-g), and the archer tank is something I've always wanted to do, but haven't been able to make happen yet.

Actually, I just remembered that there's a 4-ft 40-g at my parents' house. . . but that has a crack in it, so I used it for a tree frog (Boo Radley) and then I used it for a blue-tongued skink (Dwight). I should have them bring that down when I move into a house.
