I just added another 18in 15 watt bulb to the 10 gal shrimp planted tank. The 1st bulb is a Aqua-Glo T-8 18k, the 2nd is a Marineland T-8 natural daylight bulb I had laying around. I will eventually change to a 6700k or 18,000k. I now have a total of Photo0134.jpg30watts. My question is how many watts is considerded mid light and high light in a 10 gal because I know the WPG rule is different in a small aquarium. I'm not necessarily looking for high light, I just want to have a really nice planted tank

That should be pretty darn good light!
IMO I'd toss the 18k and get some bulbs that are 5-6.5k I know that some brands carry 6700k which is labeled as daylight and that's what I'm using right now on my newest tank setup. 18k would seem to put out unnecessary parts of the spectrum(Too much blue.... if I'm correct) that plants don't really need.
I've read that 10k and up isn't the best for plants but in one of my planted tank fixtures I have a 6500k and a 10k and the combo is quite nice to my eyes.
WPG isn't always as important as the right color spectrum :)
P.S. - Nice looking tank!!! The moss looks sweet!

This is a shrimp only tank. I use a micro bubbles air stone for the c02. I know that it moves the ph up and down but its been up and running for two months and havent had any problems with my shrimp yet. 3 ghost, 4 amanos, and 1 crs. Do you think I should do anything different at night when the plants arent using c02?

I am no expert and have very little experience!
With that being said I'll share my experiences but don't forget that there are too many sources online to help.
I've had shrimp die at night with a diy due to no oxygen being made in the tank. There was no agitation from the filter. So that's why I went the safe way out and just attached an air pump only at night.
When you start getting up to CRS and a bit higher grade shrimp your parameters are what keep your shrimp alive. There have been too many times where i've killed a couple CRS just from forgetting to turn on the air pump at night.
What I'm now doing is planning on just going 75%/50% ro/tap and CO2 on the lowest it can go. I'll maybe take the CO2 out.
Just keep in mind that plants don't need huge amounts of CO2 to thrive.

Great advice thanks. Tonight Im gonna put the ghost in my 55, when the amanos get bigger I'll do the same with them. Then I'll get more crs and make the necessary changes. I have an aquaclear 30 on the tank now so it has good surface agitation, maybe thats why I havent lost any. Anyways thanks for the advice again. Im gonna make some ajustments
