  • My new EcoPico!

    Brought this home yesterday.

Still deciding on the placement of the driftwood, but I think it's going to look something like this:

I'm planning on using Pseudomugil gertrudae and horned nerites as the inhabitants, and planting with either Marsilea minuta or Glosso, mainly, with a few others, probably Mayaca sp. and some Rotala mini.

I'm so happy about this tank! I've been waiting for a while to bring it home!

I am very pleased with this little tank!

Don't feel like planting it right now, and we gotta run somewhere, but I will add plants later this evening.

I used the AquaSoil that was in the small cube this tank's replacing. I actually like MTS, and this substrate's already "seeded." :)

      Filling:

      Done (for now)!

      Kitchen lights off:

I'm going to have to use a small PC fixture until the extra LED strips come in, so I can keep the plants alive. But this is what it looks like with the stock light.

Very nice! Did you pick this up at ADG? I saw them at their store the other day (we got a tour during our HAAPS meeting).

So, are you going to cram any Anubias 'petite' onto the driftwood? It would look SWEET!!!

Nice, MB. I bet you could do some really nice flame moss on the driftwood. Keep us updated!

                    Thanks, everyone!

Yup, got it at ADG. :)

I'm going to use glosso or marsilea for the foreground, and I'm still thinking about what to use for the background. I have this tiny Mayaca plant that I got a couple years ago, the person who sent it to me said it was Mayaca sp. mini. Which is pretty self explanatory, from what I've noticed. It's a great, fast growing stem plant that really fills in a background, but is only about a centimeter in diameter, if that. Since I have so much of it, I'm using it for now.

Not sure if I'm going to plant the driftwood. We'll see after I get the plants I want, and how they look grown-in. But those are some great suggestions - thanks!

Might as well update this thread, while I'm at it. :)

Taken today. Need to poke around in there a bit and replant a couple stems that have uprooted themselves. I'm leaving this as-is (well, not counting adding M. minuta!) for a few weeks to see which plants grow the best in these conditions, and which ones I like the best. Then I'll rearrange.
