Messy? Not sure what you mean. They're little white blossoms that stick out of the water, last a few days, then go away. They didn't foul the water or anything.Originally posted by jeebus View PostNo way! Will the flowers get messy?

Update: tonight I netted all the fish and shrimp out, put them in totes and pulled the 4" or so of substrate out of the 125. after that did multiple water changes...still doin' 'em. The fish are back in the tank and seem none the worse for wear. I hope time and lots of water changes will lessen the trauma for them. Now they have a bare bottom tank with a single piece of driftwood for the ABNs and shrimp to hang out on. My back feels like I've been beat on. I'm goin' to bed.

Not a fan of bare bottoms but I agree about the discus. What variant is that one on the bottom? Red spotted?

i don't like barebottom either... but i thought he was going to add sand... imo sand with drigtwood looks spectacular if done right, i think it is a RSG65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted
live and let live

Yes sir. RSG, red spotted green. I'm gonna try to find some sharp sand for the bottom and some more driftwood. I may or may not put some pots in it with crypt. and anubias.Originally posted by Darbex View PostNot a fan of bare bottoms but I agree about the discus. What variant is that one on the bottom? Thanks guys.

Hope you dont mind me stealing your variants but I really like the colors on your RSG. So I am leaning towards RSG or Heckels for my tank

I really like all the wild variants. I think even a plain brown/blue is a beautiful fish if healthy, but my favorites are the greens and Alenquer reds. I got my greens from Dan at HAW. I bought Hobbs, the big male in the bottom pic, and a large female last summer. I picked up the other three in Jan. I think. Hobbs grew into a real beauty. When I showed Dan the pics of him he said, "You got that fish from me!?!"Originally posted by Darbex View PostHope you dont mind me stealing your variants but I really like the colors on your RSG. I love the looks of it so far and your discus look sooooo happy. So, is Hobbs potential competition at FOTAS in September
? I make take one of my snakes, same one I took in 2006, except he's a lot bigger now
.

Thanks Nancy. I've thought about entering him but I'd be nervous as a cat worrying about him...Originally posted by szidlon View PostI love the looks of it so far and your discus look sooooo happy. So, is Hobbs potential competition at FOTAS in September
