im currently lookig into danios. There nice fish. Il be picking a school of these also which type? im yet to look more into them now.

i may have to contact my local hobby store to import the more rarely kept fish.

im looking at small fish medium to hard water

The oddball livebearers you'll likely have to ship from the states or another country. They do ship well though and their are a few sites that sell them. Not sure what your importation process is like. There could be some dealers in Southeast Asia. If you are interested I can hunt down some sites and shoot you some links.

Danios do well in large schools and stay tight. With all the newly discoved species emerging out of the Lake Inle region you could conceivably have a wide variety of choices and sizes. I myself like Danio Choprae, but the Emerald Dwarf Rasbora look great as well. The Celestial Pearl danios are cool as well and stay very small.

I've had a Freshwater fish of Australia book in my bookcase for years and have always drooled over the Galaxias, but have never seen them here in the states. My favorite has always been the Barred and common Galaxias. There are a variety of freshwater Gudgeons that are very bright and do well in a community set up.

As far as livebearers go... I am more drawn to the Goodeids as many are exctinct in the wild and there is a good chance that your efforts will actually be noticed for keeping and assisting the species. Look over the Zoogoneticus tequila and Limia Nigrofasciatus, they are both stunning in their uniqueness. Some of the Montezuma swords are awesome and sizey.

Cardinals are a staple, but like very warm waters. Some standby tetras that are overlooked can be impressive in large tanks. Diamond tera or even glo-lites in a large school are impressive when they reach full size.

Dwarf Gourami's are a bit finicky, but Honey Gouramis are far more robust and a good alternative.

Psuedomugils are a native there and would look great and be a decent addition. Sawfish and aussie lungfish are too cool for words, so if you need to get rid of any feel free! lol

Just to start off by saying thankyou for your kind research for me it has helped me alot and LOL

Sawfish and the lung fish. I guess i could use a fish like these to get rid of any unwanted fish in the tank lol they are definetly a native australian fish and well respected.

thanks for this , there are so many fish i need to look into , i want my tank to idealy be very colouful with lots and lots of schooling fish. I rather a busy looking 6ft tank than big lazy fish.

sorry for the poor quality , i do not currently have a light on my tank , i will although get some great pics up when i do with my camera when i get my light and tank is complete for now il just give you guys quick updates

There's several different species of each of the ones I mentioned. Also I'd try not to over feed as your tank is still cycling,and your fish may not take too well to increase of ammonia. They might get ammonia burn and die.

okay guys a small update on how my tank cycling is going. Im up to day 4 and with guppy a heap of guppy fry and overfeeding ive seen a slight bump in ammonia. Id say now by my test i had just done its at .15 - 25ppm. Il give it a couple days and il start adding prime to keep the fish safe throughout this cycle. Also il be getting my aquazonic light 39x 4 within the next month. Then il start planting


just snother small update i have purchased some catfish they will be derliverd today they are

albino bristlenose 6x



common bristlenose 4x


they are only babys at around 5cm each. Fully grown 10 to 15cm :)
Im getting them for $3 dollars each which is a great price.

what other livebearers do you guys reccomend for a nice colourful community tank? I want a nice mix of different variety. I want a nice busy tsnj eith fish schooling

what do you guys think? i may also selective breed these down the track. I will be getting more tanks to instsll down the bottom of my 6ft to selextive breed :)

yes this is just the start il be adding some new fish which il be talking about with you guys shortly once the tanks nearly cyeled. Il be posting up shortly pics and fish im interested in . Catfish and ofcourse livebearers
