that platinum looks great! the ones i was finding always ended up with some kind of marbling or other defect. as you are probably aware, but maybe some here arent, asian betta breeders swear by alder cones and almond leaves since the increased acidity really helps the fish stay healthy. i am using IAL and purigen now so i get most of the benefits and still clear water.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

Thanks for the alder cone tip. Cool little plastic carriers you're keeping them in. I'm sure they appreciate the palm tree scape.

Same here. That was the first time I found a platinum or ever saw one in person. Impulse buys... Yeah forgot to mention acidity. As for clear water, I didn't care much if it was tan or notOriginally posted by Totenkampf View Postthat platinum looks great! the ones i was finding always ended up with some kind of marbling or other defect. as you are probably aware, but maybe some here arent, asian betta breeders swear by alder cones and almond leaves since the increased acidity really helps the fish stay healthy. i am using IAL and purigen now so i get most of the benefits and still clear water.

City Pets, Fish Gallery, Fish N Pets Unlimited, and Xtreme Fish N Pets do have them, and the quality/health is a lot better. Price difference is huge though compared to Petsmart. Petsmart usually has sales on them and price at Petco/Petsmart doesn't fluctuate depending on quality. I'm pretty sure if a platinum ended up in one of the LFS, it would cost much more. I have yet to see any nice colored dragonscales other than from Petco/Petsmart on a good day (it's so random).Originally posted by Fishmaker View Posthmm have you guys try other fish stores besides petco/petsmart for their selection of bettas?
