  • Goldfish and temps

What is the highest temp that goldfish can tolerate?  Sometimes my pond gets to be 88 degrees during the day.  Can goldfish live in that temperature?  My friend has them in her pond, which gets to be 83, and my neighbor has them in her full-sun pond.

I do not know. My Koi goldfish are in full sun in a 1000 gallon plastic lined cinder block pond. They ate all the duckweed. Shade, plants, or lotsa bubbles would make it cooler.

My pond is almost fully covered with plants, but it's in full sun.  I do have an umbrella which gives some shade during the day.  I plan to put an awning over it to make it cooler.

My 125 gallon stays around 85 degrees right now.  I have two waterfalls into it and probably 3/4 surface area coverage with my lilies.  My fish are happy, healthy and growing like weeds.  I don't get full sun all day which probably helps.

Duckweed is a treat for them, so I can't keep a sustainable amount in the pond.  I rely on the the lily pads and actually have to thin them on a weekly basis.
