Re: pond lillies, plants, and fish needed!!!

That is just my luck, I will be out of town the last 2 weeks of October and I was realy hoping to go. For future use... do you have to pay a membership for the auction?

Re: pond lillies, plants, and fish needed!!!

Anyone can come to the auction - no membership is required. Bidding cards are $5, which is coincidentally the cost of a one year membership to the GHAC.    There are other benefits to the membership, but I'd rather not clog your thread. Feel free to PM me with any questions, or just simply post in the GHAC forum on this site what you want to know.

That is ok... I renamed the posting so I can ask questions and be able to come right back to this post if I need a reminder... if that is ok with the forum mods!

I want to give thanks to armthehomeless for the wonderful goldfish! Remember if you get rid of the rest, let me know. They will always have a home in my pond!

QUESTION: I am going to have to do a 90% water change due to Hurricane IKE. Do I need to take the fish out while completeing the process???

                Re: Michael's Pond Diary

I wouldn't. I've done several big water changes with the fish still in the pond. In my opinion, that would stress them out more.

...but I'm not a pond guru...

                  Re: Michael's Pond Diary

I usally keep my fish in my pond depending on how big they are, I only keep them in if they are about one to two inches long.  It depends on the length, width and depth of the pond. For example: If your pond is two feet deep by four feet long by four feet wide you should have one to two inches of water in the pond.   If you want to be extra safe your best bet is to put them in buckets.
Fish are people too, they just have gills.

                          Re: Michael's Pond Diary

IMO    big water changes will not hurt your fish--leave them in and just "EK" the level.    make sure you seed your filter if you think it is in jepardy other wise no worries.
netting is always trama especially on the small ones who are sure they are captured to be eaten.   have found the larger to be much more submissive to netting.
if your pond's situation demands fish to be removed -- consider treating for stress or salts for the pond as a precaution.

Thank you!!! The hurricane had really tore my backyard up. It tore off my patio cover and today I had reinstalled the cover and cleaned my yard back up. I also found a couple of tree frogs in the plants. This is better than any aquarium that I have had, saltwater or fresh!
