    Re: plecostomus in ponds

Max, there is not a park on greens bayou by I-10. There was a spot that people used to fish at right beside I-10 but I passed by there today and it looks like they are gating it up. I'm not sure but I think they already had the barbwire on it. I didn't have my glasses on.

Well, count me in for the trip whenever you guys go. Although, I already have a couple plecos I caught in Florida...can I go and try to catch other fish, or is this a "plecos only" party?  :)

Yes, Jose I do not know of a good place to fish on greens bayou. It is better if we fish in a park with picnic tables, shade, and bathrooms. Sometimes ten people show up for one of these expeditions. Mzungu, We fished for plecos on the first safari and caught all kinds of fish execpt plecos. I still have some nice mollies from that trip. Everyone is welcome and I hope we catch at least some plecos.

            Re: plecostomus in ponds

When do you want to go? Where do you want to fish? I was thinking about when it cools off some in September or October. If someone is going to buy an annual fishing license it makes sense to wait until after August 31. I understand the Buffalo Bayou and Waugh Drive location has the picnic tables, bathrooms and stuff that I want. What do you all think?

And those of us that bought an anual licence for the first safari will be covered until the 31.

Makes no difference to me as I will renew mine anyway.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

I vote for waiting for it to cool off, but I'm just going to get a daypass so it doesn't really matter either way...

Same here - as long as it's after all the 99+ degree days! It's a good idea for me to have a license all the time anyway.

Looking at my monthly weather planner it looks like the temperature will be below 90F about the middle of September:

Weather.com brings you the most accurate monthly weather forecast for Crosby, Texas 77532 with average/record and high/low temperatures, precipitation and more.

What do you all think of having the event September 23rd or September 30th? Let me know your preference or if it just does not work.

I can't make it on the 23rd, I have tickets to a Fightin Texas Aggie football game.  8) So far as I know, the 30th is good for me.

I will schedule it for September 30th. We can all bring a picnic lunch and meet at the park at Buffalo Bayou and Waugh Drive around noon.

My best friend put a pleco in her pond 2 years ago and he is still going strong.  I have heard of them in the local bayous but I wouldn't want to introduce coliform bacteria into my tank or pond.

The weather has cooled off a lot. I need to pick up a fishing license. Fishing is not required by the way. A lot of people are coming for the picnic.
