  • Sponge Filter Intake

How should I put a sponge filter on the intake of say an hob or canister and also filling up the underneath part of the intake that the sponge does not cover up?

I'm assuming you're trying to put a sponge on the intake of a HOB or canister and not trying to actually put a sponge filter on it. Just get a coarse sponge, cut a hole in it and stick that sucker on the intake. Simple as that.

Fluval edge filter sponge from petco/petsmart works great for filter intakes.

no I have something like a hydro sponge filter and when I slip it on say an hob intake the bottom of the intake is still open so it might suck up shrimp

          Rubberband the bottom.

This ^ I like to use the aquaclear sponges because they come in different sizes.
