Are you talking about that white grid looking thing? or the the "magic bean" aka purigen pouch (as eklikewhoa likes to call them)

The grid is for my moss to grow on so it can turn it wall of moss.

yeah i was talking about the grid, i dont know what a magic bean is lol. crap, i should of done that. i made a kind of a grid, with chopsticks lol. you know like those things they sell at homedepot for the roses to grow on. but i made it as a table and attached the moss on it to it could grow and attach it self and make a nice bed looking thing.

LoL. Chopstick can be versatile utensil other day eklikewhoa was using it to catch RCS. They run about a buck each at hobby lobby. Just remember don't get the smallest grid one because I had a hard time growing moss out of them little tiny hole.

We like to call purigen magic bean because they look like like small bean and they work like wonders. Clear up water tanning fast and effective without hurting anything.

does purigen seem to impact fert dosing? i thought that i had read that it may put out chelated minerals like iron?

There was talk about purigen absorbing chelated iron but the amount or if it actually does was never really stated. I've never noticed any iron deficiency when using purigen.

Just only on organic waste (like nitrate on fish poo) not NO3.

It doesn't absorb chelated iron from what seachem rep said.

cool i may try it then, it works just as well in a beanbag as it would in a canister?

btw, the wood looks too cool baoster, i kinda liked it with no backdrop too. had a good bonsai vibe once moss gets on it

A lot of the guys like to put it in their can. I left mine outside because these new wood tan up my water real fast and the magic bean have been keeping my water crystal clear. You can regenerate these bean over and over with bleach and seacheam safe/prime. Once the tannin calms down I just throw out in my reactor

i thought about running some in the middle of a magnum HOT fine filter that i coat with DE for the ultimate polishing, but that might not be much flow

It suppose to be a scary talking tree from LOTR or Harry potter. Still have some more creepy plants to go in there

Dude. You have to try Purigen, and you'll never go back to just carbon in your filters. Just be sure you buy "the Bag" because when you have to recharge the Purigen, the bleach eats through pretty much everything else.

That's actually a good idea!

more flow = more tank volume comes in contact
less flow = more contact time with the media
