  • How to remove rcs?

So I wanted to remove my rcs and get a more fancy shrimp but I'd like to sell or give them to someone. Should I just turkey baister them out?

In the past this was the method I used....

Sell the whole tank with the colony!

Seriously though, you would need to tear the whole tank down and be sure to net everything out, more important so if your next shrimp on the list will crossbreed.

Nah I was aimming for CBS so they shouldnt cross breed but I've heard that its isn't a good idea to house cbr/crs with cherries because cherries are a bit aggressive and out compete in breeding but i could be wrong.

Yeah they out compete for food and since RCS breeds like roaches the tank would be overpopulated long before the CBS could get a handle on it.

That's what thought /: I'd rather not sell the set up just for the fact of the filters I'm using. I might just keep the rcs and figure something out :P or just set up my 2.5 again for CBS haha. Oh btw do blueberries breed at the same rate as rcs? I know they're the same genes so I figured they'd do the same.

You could catch the bulk of them out and as you go net whatever rears it head out.

I don't have any experience with the blue neocardina but if like any other they should be as prolific... BikeGuru just posted that he found what looks to be exactly like blueberry shrimp from his pond.

Good idea. Might just have to stake it out in my room to catch shrimp haha.

Bike gurus post was a good read and from what I've learned they do infact look like blue tigers.

Haha I just tried to remove all my cherries to a 10. Caught like at least 30 and found 6 berries females. I thought I caught all of them but now I see at least 5-6 more tiny tiny babies hiding inside the fissidens and pellia...

yup... i would say the same.
Take 2 liter coke bottle, cut off the cone on top and invert it into the bottom.
Put a small rock or 2 to keep the trap on the floor, bait it and leave it overnight or while you are at work.
I used the same method to catch my missing kulhi loach but ended up with a bottle full of RCS instead.

It is a good idea to poke some holes in the side that the shrimp cant get out for circulation...
