Update...
I added another piece of driftwood and stood the other on end next to it. The new piece is has a lot of hollow spots in it that the shrimp like to hide in.
How do you guys think it looks.

Well it is still alive lol I drilled a hole in the drift wood and just put the roots in. It is growing very very slowly... I got it for free I could have put it in the gravel with root tabs but I thought I would try something different.
