New 2260 2MRO, what should I do?

My new filter-2260- will be here tommorrow, just wondering should I just let it start filtering OR take out holey rocks and others and clean them up first? The holeys got a little green on them,which I dont mind it looks cool, but i want to do whats right when i change the filter out the water always looked murky and I guess that 221? whatever was only cleanin 20 outa 125 gals! I do have the bio balls still under filtering. ANY suggestions will be gladly taken!............Ya`ll are right that ADG site is Cool,goona have to go look in person!

No... don't take anything out of the tank... let the filter do what you paid good money for it do. Just load the filter with media and hook it up. You will not be disappointed... that filter is a "beast". If your water was murky I would suggest adding some "quilt batting" to do that extra fine filtering. It will clog a little faster, but it will have your water crystal clear in about an hour.

I just set up another 2262 last night. When you purchased the filter, what media did you get, and please tell me you purchased the isolation valves, otherwise it will be a pain in the *** for cleaning. The isolation valves can be had if you want Eheim. You can also use union ball valves PVC from HArdware stores. On the suction you need 1" and on the dishcharge you need 5/8"

I have 2 more in the closet. They are 2250's that I modified with 1260 pump. Cause...I modified all my 2260's with 1262 pumps, and needed something to use the 1260 pumps, so I put them on the 2250.

Now I got a couple 1250 pumps I need to get rid of.

I thought it would have the valves/hoses with it. It shows it will be delivered shortly,if no valves come with it is there somewhere local to get them?

IT comes with everything but the isolation valves. IF your handy with some PVC work, you can get the 1" Union Ball Valves, and 5/8" Union Ball Valves from the hard ware store and some barbed hose fittings. To make your own for about 1/2 the cost.

Otherwise the 594 (5/8") Dishcharge Valves are about $35 at Extreme Fish and Pets, and the 794 (1") Suction Valves are about $50-60 at other places. Either Extreme or City Pets would most likely have them. You could try Aqua-Zoo and give them a call. They might have them also.

I did not order media....it doesnt come with pump? Ill call one of those place about the valves and hoses and maybe media.....i think i did not order more than i did order! LOL

There is no media that comes with the Canister. You have to purchase that yourself.

This is the cheapest way you can pack that canister.

Get 5L of Effifix - "Easter Basket Grass" = $18

Hit up screenname, he has a home made pvc union in the back of his car during the GHAC swap that was for the 2260/62 and is usually at one part of town or another throughout the week.

Those QD's are freakin expensive! I priced out a set and it was over $100!

HOLY SMOKE!! the 2260 came in, I guess i did look kinda silly thinking that other filter was enough.lol Prosper at Aqua zoo had all the media/packing so i got that done,i going to run to lowes to check for those valves,will they hook to the hoses that came with it ok? where exactly on this filter should the valves go? If you think of anything else before i hook it up let me know---you are right this thing is a Beast!!

liljack -- it dont matter where you put the valves, but think "when I disconnect the 2260 from the system to take it and clean it, I want to disconnect it where it would make most sense and not drag a TON of hose with me into the kitchen/garage/garden to clean" I put most of my valves within 12 inches of the canister basically
