  • Blood Fin Tetras - Fish Dying off? Help!

I bought several blood fin tetras from a LFS a while ago and have now lost 3. They all have gone at the same location in the same manner.

They just look sickly, almost a curved body shape pointing down and lacking in color. I don't understand whats wrong! It seems like they have just given up on life.

Their top fins deteriorate and just kinda waste away. I'm not aware of any diseases among blood fins...is anyone?

All of the other blood fins are fine atm. Then something changes and another one...BAM! Gone.

I'm thinking about quarantining the rest of them....I dunno. Really making me feel bad!

Did you consider TB? I am assuming that your other fish, whatever it is are OK.

I haven't heard of it. My other fish seem fine. Is there a thread about it here?

That sounds really awful! I don't want to euthanize ALL of my fish! Has anyone dealt with fish TB before? That will really kill my love for the hobby....

Don't despair, lots of fish are infected from birth. It all comes down to the immune system. Only the strongest survive. There is no treatment. Google it or check this link: http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/curved_spine/

sorry to hear about your loss, whatever happens, don't lose love for the hobby on that, sick or losing fish is part of the hobby, just like having awesome tanks and fish and spawns, so don't lose hope, you can start over fresh, also, always have to be careful where you buy your fish, not sure where you got them from, but a lot of time pet$mart or petc@ will have sick fish, always ask how long they have had that batch of fish and if there has been diseases and deaths
