  • Interesting behaviors from my Green Spotted Puffer...?

    I've noticed my GSP
acting a little funny lately. He every so
often will tuck his tail beside him and either
float around in a ball or rest at the bottom like such.
The question is, is this normal?
    a couple of bad pix...

In that first pic, looks like he is inflated. Are the other fish bothering him? Looks like his defsensive behavior. 8)

i have pea puffer's and they do this regularly in a defense posture.....
but they don't puff up....but i have them in their own tank......they do this posture when i walk up to the tank until they realize it's just mom with the goodies...then they relax and put their tails out straight...i keep their water temp around 80-81....
and it's a planted tank.....if you have them with other fishes they are probably being nudged or something....what the tank and see who's pickin on em.....

The 2 fish I see sharing his first pic I know can be agressive, so I'm not totally suprised. The yellow and black fish, whose name starts with an "L", are known to be fin nippers.

I've had leporinus fasciatus before. When I first got a trio, when I got home, it looked like one took a chainsaw to the other. Months later, they plucked the eyeballs off a common pleco! 8O
                They became trade ins!
                Beautiful fish, but highly obnoxious!
No wonder your puffer is stressed.

                        INDEED!!

I left him in the tank but took the rest out and found new homes for them.

Here's a question though. How many puffers can I keep in a 47 gal tank?

i'm not sure.....it will depend on how they get along.....
i have 5 pea puffers in a 20 gallon and they do well.....i have several rocks, and plants for them to stake claim to for hiding....
