none on my end of the street....
      tooth broke in half length-wise
using 18 D batteries a day to keep my fish alive...Thank GOD I was not overstocked in any of them... still have 10 tanks w/o bubblers but 2 of them have plants.  I did throw a little bit of food in for the fish... they are getting kind thin and eating on each other.  Even when i get power, I will have to wait about week for the well to get situated and waste some of the water from it to clean it out a bit.  I found 1 baby crayfish clinging to an adult I found huddled in the corner nibbling on a dead on I failed to see last week in the tank.  My fish amaze me...through all of this they are so glad to see me.  I go back to work on Wednesday.. we still don't know when the kids will be able to return.  My power is now scheduled to be back by Thursday....was supposed to be Monday.  Steve.... I hope they can fix your house so you can go home soon.  This whole thing has been a huge mess.  Peoples' patience is being tested, drivers are driving WORSE... but yet my animals and my fish show me what's important... we just have to hang in there.  Nick.... I just want to give you a big ole HUG.  Jesper, thank you for your offers and well wishes... Ty everyone who checked in with me throughout everything.

          Hi all.
Glad to see the "survivors" page. We got power back last Friday. Listening to the gen was beginning to get on everyone's already frayed nerves.  Had 4 inches to go before we took water on the slab.   Neighbors big tree filled my back yard  and 20' of fence came down with it, but not much else outside.  The tree did however destroy my 150g  tank that was outside for cleaning and a reseal.  Found chunks of glass 15'+  away in the yard.
Lost all 3 of my Cop. Borleyi  even with all the batt bubblers and another mystery breed that decided to dig and wedge himself under a rock.  The rest of the tanks did well and everything survived.  Seems like the *^%$#  trumpet snails took over one of the tanks while the power was out.

Does anyone have any local recommendations where I can get a new Oceanic 150 ?   My neighbor said his insurance will cover the tank cost .
          My "adiction" consists of:
150G show tank, 110g Mbuna "rock city",
          2-75G mixed, 3-30G fry/growout/quarantine tanks.

Just got power back today a few hours ago...

Lost power at around 10pm Friday night of the storm, then the battery powered pumps kicked on. I kept these going the entire time along with occasional water changes and light feedings. Fortunately, Ike only managed to take 1 Xeno from me  :? ...but everyone else is doing great!

If insurance will cover the cost. You might as well get a new one.

so a tree landed on my car, and i went to talk to my apt. manager and told them about, they told me there wasn't anything they can do about it...  i thought apt. insurance covers all the damage on their property...

yes...but the car is your property....call your insurance company. If the tree was diseased or dead, then it would have been their responsibility to take it down before it fell...good luck with your insurance!

That's true. I had the same thing happen to one of my co workers. If the tree was living at the time, then it is an act of god and  you have to take it up with your insurance. If it was already dead, then the owner of the treee is responsible. If a tree falls on your property, then it is your responsibility to clean it up , even if it is not yours.

We have been dealing with alot of these over here in Louisiana.

in case there are people on here who still can't get back to their homes in Galveston or surrounding area's this website is providing a satellite view of everywhere that Ike struck. you just click the box for your area and then click the picture to zoom in.....it's not super close up but you can see if you still have a roof or not and check out the damage in your area.   hope this helps someone..Juicy

                            Juicy,
are you sure thats a recent image? I looked at Seabrook and there isn't any water or even debris on the roadside. In reality it looks like a battle field and you couldn't even drive down the road post storm.

Hmmm, I'm not sure really...this is the front page of the website http://ngs.woc.noaa.gov/ike/index.html  and it says...

The imagery posted on this site is of the coast of Texas and Louisiana after Hurricane Ike made landfall.

I've only looked at a few area's in Galveston which look post Ike to me but maybe there's something screwy with Seabrook...it says on the bottom  Last Modified: September 18, 2008 9:05 AM
