I am thinking that the Livua is going into that 140g tank.  Man there is going to be a HUGE window into their lives :)

yep thats what I have planned.

Thats why I have been so anxious to get this pig up and running. going to make sure its very stable first. I am not that anxious as to risk problems.

chris - you must live in a big place, you have 951 gallons worth of tankage in 10 different tanks (including this 140), how do you maintain all this?  i can't wait to one day move to a house where i can go a little crazy maybe!
        65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
        30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted

I wish I knew Derek had a cherry Oak 140, kinda looking for one myself.

I cannot tell from the photos, but I sure hope you have put yourself some kind of isolation between canister and the tank.

What stain did you use?  It looks really nice.

yes there are too many. but this is my main hobby now and most of my tanks are very stable and run themselves. we have a very serious routine we follow by every day and week.

i agree, if i had my way, i would have more than i can type, but i also know maintaining each tank optimally is not easy and so kudos to those who are able to :)

                    Re: My new 140g

I have some holey rock that will be going in there and a few large pieces of river rock. I am going to keep my eyes open for a large museum  quality piece of holey rock for this tank. I want it to be the focus of the tank as well as compliment the fish and what they like. I have a bunch now but they are just not what I am looking for. Its hard to locate large pieces 20"x20" that are good looking.

On a funny note if we ever have a meeting here. Everyone will be able to find the house. Between my truck and this 48" light you can see the whole front part of the house lite up at night. People are going to wonder if we are running a nightclub or just have a neon fetish or something.

fishgallery has HUGE pieces in the parking lot adjacent to them - i am sure you will have to give them your firstborn for any of those

Chris you need to take a picture of the front of the house at night and show us :)

There is a huge piece about 15 x 15 at City Pets.. its cut on the bottom so it can stand up by itself, but its almost $200 if I recall correctly.  It flat like a piece of slate but riddled with holes..  I am waiting for this fall when Geoff holds his fall holey rock dig trip again to see what can be found.  We saw and found some awesome pieces the last time we went up there.

ok. I have picked up the Livuas and they are more beautiful than the pictures I saw. I am just mesmerized by them. They are doing very well and already looking for food. I have the lights off and have up the O2 levels for now. I will shoot some pictures in the next few day once they settle down a little more.

i saw this tank sunday. thing is spot on picture-esque idea of a troph tank. funny thing is the house isn't overcrowded.
There just the simple fact that in every room there is some sort of fish looking at you like you don't belong.

the tank is the ish big C.
maybe the 135 will be just as nice
