  • Funny story I had to share

Well as most of you know I purchsed some Rosey Barbs and they are in Qt.  I also had one clown loach that has been in there for about a month. I started out with 4 clown loaches but I wanted to keep one in there to keep the tank cycled. Anyway it would hide all day unless it was feeding time. Now that I added the Rosey barbs he/she been schooling with them. I think my clown loach, thinks he/she is a rosey barb.  I have been watching it for the last 3 days and it follows the rosey's back and forth across the tank. I thought it was just too cute not to share.

Btw: I went last night to the lfs and picked up two more Rosey Barbs so I will be exteneding the qt period.  I also picked upt two Kribensis while I was there. I don't what it is about those guys but I just love them.

thats funny, btw, i love the kribs, i bought a pair about 6 weeks ago, they got settled right away, showed amazing colors and dug a little pit/whole under my bogwood because i had to caves and they love caves, they started getting increasingly aggressive (specially the female) because i think they had already laid eggs,  eventually they started bullying and sometimes nipping my angels (which btw are 3 times there size), anyway, that was the last straw, so i had to separate them, one in a qt tank and the other in the main tank, the aggression subsided, but the one in the qt tank got sad and didn't make it for some reason (there were others in the qt tank at the time that were far more water sensitive and they were fine), anyway, it was sad, but i could not afford to lose my favorite koi angel fins to them, so one word of caution, if there are slow moving fish in the tank with them and they are pairing off, watch out

Re: Funny story I had to share

I had one a while back with my africans and I was told that once the africans got larger they would kill it. So I moved it to another tank after trying for about 3 weeks to catch it. I also had a sponge filter in the other tank. The krib went upside down into the tube of the sponge filter and got stuck. When I got home from work I found it dead.  It was so pretty. I think the two I have are both males. I know if you have a pair they're better kept in a species only tank. But I think I'm going to keep these two in the qt tank, unless I decided to get another fish. I don't plan on it but you know how that is. I also know they will eat fry if given the chance and I have my apisto fry in the larger tank, I sure don't want them to get eaten. I lost their pop "again" so I'm not sure if mom will mate with another male. I was thinking about getting another pair but I decided to keep the fry and raise them instead. This means no more apisto fry for a while. Makes me wish I would have never moved them to the larger tank. But thanks for the info finfan.    I was thinking seriously about putting them with my Koi angels, all I could find on the net is that they are not community fish. After hearing your experience with your angels I will definately not put them in there.
