Thanks! I'll be looking out for rock to use before I finish painting this just to make sure the colors and shapes are as close as possible. I almost wish I have picked up some rock first, but it's a bit of a drive to find any. I know I'll be looking for more angular pieces since that's how the BG is turning out...Open to suggestions, looking up some ideas now.

I had some great rock for my first Tang tank build, but its crazy expensive (Seiryu stone) and have looked over all the spots locally for stone in Spring/Woodlands area. I'd like to get some this next time in if you'd be interested in tagging along some weekend

More complete! Will be a while before I move forward...Probably going to use Drylok over concrete. Not bad for a kid's first try! :) And thanks, that stone really is beautiful, I've seen it in a few scapes...If I'm still looking by then I'd love to get some!

Still thinking on that riparium idea... Just not too sure yet. If I do, I'll add some more ledges/etc to the top region to make it work for plants, and might work on that floating island idea...We'll see!

Wow, that looks sweet! Cool idea and.its turning out very well. Saw Roy had mentioned tangs as a possible stock. Thatd be a nice size tank for a tang bio type. If u decide to go that route let me know im one of the breeders of tanganyika fish on the north side. Got.quite a few fish to.check out and can help yoi out on stocking.

Since you're going with the 3d background, I'd incorporate more ledges at the top if you want to do a riparium. It'll take up less space and won't be much of an eyesore.

Thanks guys! Really wished I was working with a bit larger of a tank, but my college apartment is pretty small so I'm limited on space...Still excited to see it up and going in August though, and I appreciate all the help!

Got it fit in the tank! Pretty happy with it. A few rocks fell off in the process, but I'll get them sealed back on. Also will probably add a few pieces to cover parts of the intakes.

Well, I actually had the tank in storage when I was making the background at my apartment. I went off the dimensions online, and took them in an inch on all sides to ensure it would fit. Took...Many hours! lol. But then it still too large to fit, so I had to cut off more once in storage and cut out areas for the filters...Probably an 8hr job, though it would have gone faster had I planned out a design first, just went with the flow and continually changed it around!
