The Finnex Titanium heaters are also a very trustworthy brand. They go up to 500w I believe and they also have the electronic thermometer controller for about the same price as the regular thermometer controller. I'm buying a Finnex one within the month. If I like it, I'll swap all my heaters over to it.

Yeah. I just looked it up. The 300w ViaAqua is about $10 more than the 300w Eheim Jager. Just find a cheap price online.

I'd recommend getting a ViaAqua titanium heater which comes with a controller. When they fail, it goes into the off position so you won't have a overheat situation. My main tanks have them exclusively. This is to tree best if my recollection, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Think Ive figured it out...faulty heater, the water was EXTREMELY warm. The fish were blooted and smelled like they had been dead for several days. I noticed the smell when I came down and the water was very foggy, when it was clear the night before and the fish were alive. This is the only thing I can contribute it to. I talked to fellow today that had the same thing happen to him. Presently I am in the process of cleaning tank and will restart in a few days. Thanx to everyone for their response and help. Calvin

Yup. Just vacuum out the gravel to take out any accumulated fish poop. Do this as often as you can when you do water changes.

Thats what I usually do. Like I said Ive had an Aquarium for some time now and have raised fish, but, Ive never had anything like this happen.

Just siphon the water out. You shouldn't need to clean it if it was already running.

And rinse out the innards with tank water ONLY every couple of months.
