Test it in the grass. You don't want it to bust and then the glass shatter.

I wish I could.....I'm in a 3rd floor apartment tho! Lol. I'm gonna fill 25% then wait a day, add another 25% and wait a day, etc.

Yeah, I'll probably set up some old comforters around it.

might want to up that renters insurance just in case. Although it might be a pain, i'd find a friend with a yard and test it there. Even 25 gallons of water can cause alot of damage and be a royal pain to clean up. Not to mention, the great relationships you will get to start with the neighbors downstairs should the test fail.

            good luck either way

Lol...that's true. We've got plenty of insurance, but the last thing I need is 100 gallons of water hitting my floor. At least on our balcony it can only go down and hit other balconies.... I may give them a heads up just in case though!

                      Thx Khmerstyle!

Prostreet: Thanks man. I'll let you know pretty soon. We had a death in the family yesterday, so I'm making an unplanned trip to Boston on Saturday thru Tuesday. Then I probably won't have a day off til the following week. I may try to redo the seals (for safety sake) and then make a brace after that. I'll let you know as soon as I figure it all out. I really appreciate it sir!

Sorry to hear about the death in the family.

As far as redoing the seals for safety sake, to redo the structural/primary seal, you would have to take the whole aquarium apart. The seal that holds it together is on the ends of the glass, not the secondary seal inside the aquarium. The secondary seal is not the real issue when it comes to the brace (although if the aquarium comes apart the secondary seal will go to). The brace it there to keep the glass from bowing in the middle and thus stressing the structural seals around the aquarium. Play it safe and get with Prostreet when you get back. Safer and way easier than trying to mess with the structural seals. Just my opinion.
