    Re: New Scape

FYI: I have horned nerites and tiger nerites.
    Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

      Ron have you tried nerites?

After thinking about it I'm concerned that they would be viewed as sinking pellets for my fronts and food for my loaches.

No, I'll defer to others here that have had them. I did have trumpet snails several years ago and they took over my tank. I tried loaches, baited them with lettuce and even used chemicals. They were introduced to my tank on some live plants when I was keeping discus.

You are right about snails being food to your loaches. TangoMIke has Nice Plecos But they would be food to the fish too. You would need to grow them out some. But he could have some adults. Anything you put in the tank to eat algea would need to be big enough to not get ate.

I like the nerite shells and would like to give them a try. Do you think they stand a chance against my large fronts and loaches? How hard are the shells?

I stopped by Fish Gallery this morning and Don said the loaches would try eating them and give up because of the taste.

Don graciously fished 5 siamese algae eaters out of his plant tanks. They are about 3".

Not my 1st choice but they are good and fast.

You and Ron have mentioned TangoMike. I'm going to convert my 75 gallon tank to a clown loach, SA feel kind of aquascape. Don't really know what this means for now beyound the comment. Some of Mke's plecos will go on the list.

TangoMike has some really nice plecos. His plecos are 2"-4" best I can remember and you can't beat his price. Nicest guy as well.
