you can buy 5% ammonium hydroxide at ace hardware. its called janitorial strength and does not contain artificial colors, odors, or surfactants. a heater would definately help your cycle along with an airstone.75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish

There's multiple ways of using purigen. You could put it in a media bag and toss it in the sump by your return pump. You could put it in a media bag and put it in a HOB filter and put the HOB on your tank or on your sump. The best way to utilize purigen is buying a reactor and pouring the purigen inside of it. It evenly uses up the purigen and it tumbles the purigen so you get better water clarity. Anyway you end up choosing to do is fine though. I just bought two bags of purigen and stuck them in my AC110 and it's doing wonders.Originally posted by NDsuperduty View Posti have purchased the purigen and some filter bags but still need to read up more on how to use it properly.

Room temp water is fine for cycling. I agree that you should track the cycle to gauge your progress. Just test daily on ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Write down the values. You'll be able to watch the peaks and falls of nitrite and nitrate and know to the day when the tank is cycled.
MarkWhat are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
