had one years ago bought it from pet city. great pet very active and interesting but hard to keep alive. mine survived about six months but i was also new to the fish game and probably not changing the water freqently enough or some thing i also had not heard of canister filters, wet/drys and all the great equipment that really could have helped out. I had a 55g with a simple hob filter and no idea what i was doing.

atlantic rays produce too much waste to be housed in most tanks and will eventually die.

With the atlantic/florida ray being the only option, in my eyes, there are no rays available in texas.


As for how someone would know... there are Snitches lurking everywhere, plenty here too from what I am told.

Atlantic Rays get like 3 feet in diameter, and really need brackish water after the first 9 months or so.

If you did want to go the illegal route and get stingrays, you would need a HUGE tank. Even a 210 has a footprint too small for them, you're looking at custom acrylic tanks at that point. After spending that kind of $$, it would be not fun to have them for 6 months then get them confiscated by TPWD and get a massive fine for more than you dropped on the setup... :)

It's not that that illegal. Just require a lot of room for the ones you can get or tight lips.
