    Re: Algae eaters

Ocats are wildcaught so the stock coming in are a bit weak.

I usually watch when one of the LFS gets its shipment and let the ones that are gonna die die before I buy them.

Fish Ranch has some good one that have been there for awhile, CityPets has the larger variant of them and Fish Gallery has both the affinis and niger variant and they have been there for awhile.

im gonna say bristlenose are my favorites, i have SAE's as well, its hard to find true ones, some places will sell flying foxes as SAE's, anyway flagfish can get a little aggressive too. BN's and certain other plecos are great (rubberlip, or clown plecos for instance) Anyway i say go with the Bristle nose.

Bushy/bristle, same thing. Mine are standard fin, but longfin will work just the same. I think Fish Gallery had some longfins a couple of weeks ago.

What is the normal asking price for the LF BN? FG has them for $16.99 and they are about 2". I am used to the common spotted pleco and they are very cheap like $5 i think its been a while since I bought one mine is like 6-7" now.

                    Re: Algae eaters

that seems high since i got some around that size there earlier this year for like 8 or 9 bucks a pop. i have gotten normal BN as in not long fin for around 4 to5 at different places, albino as well. If Tim would just separate his and put them alone, im sure he could breed enough albino longfin to make us all happy.

I have a tank with Angels and Ocats and haven't had any problems.  All the ocats I have received have been hardy and I have only lost one cause he got caught under a large piece of wood.

I add my vote for Oto's, I ahve 10 of them, but have bought 14 alogether. I echo the comment re: wild caught and weakness made previously. Once they get established they do well.

I also have Amano Shrimp, Nerite Snails (which only breed in saltwater).

My SAE's got lazy too. But the Nerites and Otos do a GREAT job - highly recommend!

CF, you seriously want the Bristlenose?

I drive to beltway 8 and 45 every weekday morning (08-10am)

Or we could meet somewhere on the weekend?

Let me know. They are standard fin Brown Bristlenose males.

Is there any reason to not put a Bristlenose Pleico in a tank with livebearers?
I have a buch of O cats in all my tanks, but I want a more active algae eater in my 55.
I let my Mollies (and Platys) have their fry in the tank now, and don't want any fin or fish casualties from an agressive bottom feeder.
Are they ok to put in, as a rule?
