            Freshwater?? How much were they?? I want one!

              Yeah they are freshwater. They are in a species only tank, since I'm working on breeding them. I'm debating whether I need to take the oto's out. I might replace the oto's with some snails and call it a day. I've got another female or 2 on order (depends what turns up).

              These guys weren't cheap... we'll leave it at that.

                        what size tank are they in?

                        : 15 lambchop rasbora , apistogramma cacatuoides (orange) pair, pearl guorami, sterbai cory cat, siamese algae eater, ottos, bristlenose pleco, snails, and lots of plants.

                          a 10. I have a marineland HOB rated for 10 gallons, an undergravel filter, with a 2211 pulling from the undergravel plate (think of it as a big prefilter). I still have an air pump on the other side of the tank keeping the other side of the UG plate moving, as well as oxygenate the water (DO is really big for these guys and their eggs)

                              Yes indeed sir. I found that DO is more important with fish from more temperate waters, which makes sense when warm water carries less O2 than does colder water.
