  • running 3 canister filters?

i am picking up my new tank tommorow......6ftx2ftx29in.....it is closer to a 220 than 210.....anyway to my question....i am going to be keeping a few petros and was wandering what type of canisters would you buy for the best bang for your buck....i know i am going to get some red for this as i dont want to use a sump but that is just me...i would like to know what yall would suggest to buy....of course i will be adding powerheads to the tank for flow but i will just take care of that alittle later....
my thoughts were 2 fx5s and one renaxp4... they are very easy to clean and put out decent flow....i have had the 2250s before and never like cleaning them and they are very cumbersom....anyway thanks in advance.....also do you think that will be enough filters if i go that way? thanks mickey

I think that filtration would be fine but I have heard lots of bad stuff When mixing a FX5 with a sand substrate. Im sure you have prob heard these story's too. Any way I have 2 xp3's and a 2260 on my 240 and I think its pretty good that way. I wouldn't mind adding another 2260 though and adding a couple power-heads to keep stuff from settling on the bottom.

Two Fx's should be plenty of filtration. No need for the xp4

Yeah you should be fine then. How would you set up the filters if thats the route you went. As far as media goes?

You will be fine with the 2 FX5's....but why do you want to mess up the mix by adding an XP4 instead of another FX5 ? I have both FX5 and the 2260 and the FX5 is just so much easier to deal with . I love the Eheim 2260/62..... but for the price of one 2260/62...you can get two FX5's . One 2260/62 ......just won't out perform 2 FX5's .
