  • what do yall think about these additions....

    90g
    ph 8.0

    current stocking:
    3 Clown loaches 2-6in
    1 fire eel 12in
    1 raphael cat 6in
    1 tiger pleco 4.5in
    8 great danios 1.5-2in

    definite additions tomorrow:
    7 tiger barbs
3 rainbow sharks (will be separated if aggressive towards each other)

    possible additions:
    3 leporinus 5-7in
    some geophagus
    few more clown loaches

In my current stocking there is ZERO aggression or stress...i will be getting the tiger barbs and sharks tomorrow morning and a guy is sending me the 3 leporinus for FREE, i just pay shipping and i wanted some geophagus but i think my ph is too high...also i hear clown loaches should be in groups of 5 or more so i was gonna add a few....

please give me your input and what yall think would be the best way for me to go

start making future plans for your rainbow sharks. they will outgrow your 90 in 2 years. and in the meantime, you will have a major bioload to deal with. overall, I think your tank will be way overstocked with all of those fish. just my opinion.

edit: please disregard the rainbow shark comment. I was thinking irridescent shark... I think you should stop and evaluate after adding the barbs and sharks.

I think you already haved alot on the bottom of your tank (without the rainbow sharks). the middle/ upper part of your water column will be pretty full once those giant danios get full grown - an extremely under-rated fish IMO.

      Good luck!

Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Not sure about the Rainbow Sharks. Fish labeled as "sharks" are generally pretty aggressive toward conspecifics...at least those that I've seen. 3 of them might be different, but whenever I've seen 2 in a tank, one of them is inevitably beaten up. Again, could just be the ones I've seen. You may have luck with yours. But, like you said, it'll be good to keep an eye on them. :)

I think the stocking will be on the heavy side as well. Also, I think the danios and barbs will be food for the fire eel. I've seen those guys swallow huge meals.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

            8 great danios
            7 tiger barbs
            1 tiger pleco
            1 raphael cat
            1 fire eel
            3 clown loaches
            1 albino rainbow shark

what about one leporinus and some geos??

i had all three rainbows in there but the biggest one was picking on the little ones so i separated all of them into my other tanks
