So I am in Austin visiting moms and I stopped by River City Aquatics since its down the street. They had a feather fin tank with some Calvus' that stopped me and made me think. In the tank they had a huge driftwood that cover 2/3 of the tank and some large limestone on the other side. What caught my attention was that the driftwood was completely covered in Black Beard Algea. The dreaded of all the algea. Now I talked to the guys there and they said it was unintentional but what made it cool was the way the water was circulating it made it look like saltwater coral flowing back and forth in the waves. And the Calvus' were swimming in and out of the algea forest like clown fish swim in and out of the coral. It was pretty cool thing to see so I started to think that would be a cool idea for a tank to make it very similar to saltwater reef. What do you guys think?

BBA can be very pretty. I can see it being an asset in a cichlid tank where the decor is rather sparse. It is extremely dreaded when it gets into a planted tank and starts covering your plants. Then it's very unsightly.
Hey, CF, if you want some BBA, I have plenty to share! My 29g has BBA all over the driftwood.Vicki
