Trophs/petro = 17 (9 coming from the Geeks alone!)
discus = 2
If MB tanks pictures for Geoff.....this thread needs to get locked cause it's game time!

i have to agree to a very small proportion.Originally posted by cichlid1409 View Posti would have to agree with Mzungu ... to a degree. at first i didn't like petros but they have kind of grown on me. i like a few of the variants but not all. it is cool to see some huge petros.
i like them all but can live without the red eye ikola and a couple of the famula, but to have a colony of the larger variants in your own aquarium is a site to behold!i sold my moba front colony to get some of the orange kasumbe!truly magnificent!!!
since then i've gotten texas bulu which are a very docile petro for being one of the larger variants,i've also got some trews and longola.the longola are crazy a$$ mean.its hard to find the right combo and setup to work, but i'm trying!!!
i'm currently looking for a 3-4 hundred gallon but with money being a issue dont know if or when that will happen!

Traci,
Are those the old moliro colony you got from me? I miss them a lot! They were my first tropheus ever. Turned me out and I never went back. Put me on the fry list please. I got to get that blood line back home.

Thanks for the info! They are very nice looking fishes!
I will have to take another pic of my new tank with my RSG & TG (Tefe Green) group.
Post-up! Points will be given accordingly, and you got to back up your peps. Seems like tropheus/petros are wining!
There is a reason Discus are more expensive then Trophs.
Depends on the trophs. Golden Kalambo comes to mind. Don't know of a single person with them in the US. All the European divers that find these fishes ship them back home before they come here. Or maybe, US importers are just not asking for them, I don't know for sure. But rare fish.
Also, a good real colony of trohpeus is not 3-4 fishes. 20-30 fishes is generally needed just to keep these fishes from killing each other. That drives up cost A LOT.
They are the most sought after fish because of their grace and beauty. Also they are harder to get and take care of. The thing is WC discus is better in Discus community than Troph because there are only 3 (maybe 4 depends on who you ask) variants. WC Trophs last time I checked there are more variants then I can count on all my fingers and toes.
Around 120+, and they still finding more out there!
If you all are putting Trophs and Petros together to prove a point that point has been taken they are blunt faced dee dee dees.

no one in their right mind could compare a nasty goldfish with a tropheus!!!

I'm going to have to disagree. I currently have tropheus, puffers, gobies, malawi cichlids, mbuna cichlids, SA cichlids, Frontosa, Datnoids, Scats, Discus, featherfins, shellies, cyps, flowerhorns, guppies, bettas, badis, danios, loaches, catfish, plecos and koi....and have had common goldfish...None of these fish have a temperament to be compared with the Trophs. This is based solely on my observation, nothing more.Originally posted by mdwalt View Post...Also, any common goldfish can have the same temperament as a troph....

The unique shape and varying colorations make the discus the more interesting fish. Trophs may vary in color, but their shape is nothing more than ordinary. Also, any common goldfish can have the same temperament as a troph.
My vote goes to the discus.
