Have you looked at Marineland's Tidepool filter? It has three slide-out media trays and incorporates a commercial-size BioWheel. The main reservoir area doesn't appear to have a cover (to reduce evaporation) but I suppose you could have one made for it. I've never used a wet/dry so I can't give any opinions.
I was also wondering about the siphon/overflow box... does anyone have a recommendation?
