Brings up a few interesting questions......

what are they changing from and why ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

      Who knows.. maybe Chloramines ?

On the subject but side tracked... a friend of the family has completed the work on a new (cheaper) way to rid the drinking water all the harmful things in the water, and since many other nations already use this (his process is a lot cheaper than theirs which is what makes this very attractive to the local municipalities)
The environmentalists will the first people to jump on the bandwagon, and push for it, and the makers of Prime and Amquel etc... are going to be the people who are going to ask us to not move to this new process.... Our family friend says within the next 20-30 years everywhere in the US his technology will be in use.

          Hi guys,

It is not only La Porte but also other southeast areas. Will last for a month.

That is the article. So what needs to be done to the water to make it safe? Anyone know? Or should I just buy bottle water to do my changes?

OKie I read the article.. If you already use Prime / Amquel etc... then you are going to be okie. What they are telling you is that there is going to be a higher amount of free Chlorine in the water system, rather than Chloramine.. now since Chloramine is harder to break completely down than Chlorine, they are just informing you that because of the higher amount of chlorine you are potentially going to see more problems with your fish if you dont use prime/amquel or something like it in your water.
Most people who reads this already use those products therefore this is an non-issue. Btw.. if you "smell" chlorine it really means you are smelling the ammonia in the water not chlorine as its a oder less gas. They are telling you while they are going to be flushing the system they are going to be pushing out the chloramine out of the system and any free ammonia is going to smell.

I dont know what the process is. Its being patented as we speak, but in short its a way that was is treated using a process which cleans the water better than what of chlorine, and its completely non-toxic to fish, animals etc.. ie.. once this is in the system you can pour it directly in the tank. I believe from what I am reading its an addition of a high concentration of a natural occurring gas into the water which removes the ability for bacteria to live in the water.. The really big thing is that you can produce this water and as soon as you have made it, you can pour it directly into the ocean without having to re-treat it again which is what we have to do now.
Several European nations already use this process except its expensive to do over there, but my family friend has created a process which lowers the cost substantially, and its now possible to do this on a grand scale here in the US. He expects that most water systems will be converted to this process in the next 20-30 years from now.
