  • HELP! Kribs had babies!

Okay, so I found a ton of babies in a shell that my female krib has been protecting. I have a fry box so they are all in there right now. Just pulled the shell out and dumped them in it. My question is what do I feed them and how often? I had no intention of raising fry but I want to do my best for a first time experience. I have Repashy community superfood and I put some in there and smashed it up and they ate it. I roughed up a small chunk of it for them to graze on but I dont thing they can eat of of it, or maybe they can, they are so small. Any help on what to feed them, how to feed them, where to get what I need and how often would be VERY VERY appreciated! Thanks everyone!

          HELP! Kribs had babies!

You can try calling City Pets or maybe try marsh-reef.org, there are a couple of local clownfish and cardinal breeders and they usually have live brine shrimp all the time.

Almost all LFS. I think Petco/Petsmart sells them? They usually sell them dried in a tube and you have to hatch them. I would have to say microworms, grindal worms, vinegar worms, and walter worms are a much better choice compared to baby brine shrimp (BBS). Tubifex and black worms are a good to feed as they grow larger. Much more protein packed compared to BBS which gradually declines in nutrition as they age (best to feed newly hatched BBS).

You buy the eggs and hatch them out.1gallon jar,3 quarts water,3 tbs. rock salt,1 teaspoon eggs.aerate 24 hrs.then remove aeration, shine flashlight at bottom of jar.light attracts the shrimp.when they gather at the light, suck them up with a Baster and feed your fry.replace aeration.repeat as necessary.good luck

If you want to hatch brine shrimp. look at youtube on home build brine shrimp hatchery. You can get the eggs from city pets FG HAW and Fish land. take 36 hours and you can feed live but freez the rest and they will eat those too.

So I got some hikari first bites and feed them some. They are so small it is hard to tell if they are eating it. They are still to young to fully swim but they do try to swim and do in little spurts. I hope they are eating the food, I really want this to work out. Plus my wife is in love with them lol.

If you pay shipping, I can send you some microworms to try it, or you could pick it up (a bit far though). I find it works really well with fry because the worms are constantly wiggling in the water which triggers their feeding response. I've fed fry much smaller than krib fry with this stuff. Works really well.

A quick video on my krib fry in their grow out tank. These are just a few of them, there are about 30 in there.
