TV Fish Tank

I read something the same as that but didn't pay much attention to that when I was gutting it out. Old fashion way, hands and tools.

Ive never heard of the electrocusion, but i know that many of the tubes have been known to burst and send shard flying, older models especialy.

Looks really good though.

So I looked online a little. It said that the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) in old CRT TV sets and the parts that power it up can hold a charge for a while. Like a few days/weeks or something. And there is the possibility that the glass can fly out at you. So maybe I won't try to do the same to my uncle's tv should he get rid of it.

Anyways, I think it looks great and can't wait to see more happen to it!

That looks fantastic! :emt_thumbs::emt_thumbs: My uncle has an old tv like that. I wonder...if he ever got rid of it... I just have one question: How did you take the tv parts out without electrocuting yourself? Because isn't the tv always on even when it's off? Btw I know nothing about electronics. Just heard this somewhere.

I've been trying to look for my moonlights that I had. Maybe I gave them away. Materials that I used were the tv,some wood from HD I had them cut to put the tank on and support under the tv, saw to take the top off, grounded ballast that I had in which I connected to a cord, and basic tools. Thats pretty much it.

Very nice! The light coming from the back makes it look like one of those TVs with ambiance lighting. Are you putting moonlights in for nighttime viewing? Wire it to where when the power button is on, the daytime lights are on, and when the power button is off, the moonlights are on.

I love puffers but I think the only puffers I can put in there are dwarf and pea puffers?

this turned out sooooo COOOOOOL, awesome awesome awesome, what channel are you going to put it in? - cichlid? tetras? rainbows? barbs?I'm selling my 90g which has my leaf fish in it. If anyone has any ideas, i'm open to them.

i know people don't give them credit, but a shoal of 10 to 20 tiger barbs look stunning in any aquarium, i have 10 in my mix cichlid tank... they are the best schoolers ever and look amazing, just a suggestion

Tiger barbs were my first fish. I went to fish gallery with a friend to help him get some fish for his new tank and he picked out a shoal of tiger barbs.

Very nice outcome! And the aquascape came out looking good, too!!!

Will you be using any caulking or filler on the top to prevent the light from escaping from the unit? It looks great the way it is, but if you sealed the top to prevent the light from shinning on the wall in back, the tank would stand out even more...?

I plan on putting some padding to fill the cracks where the light comes from and also the back.

Kinda funny, I was thinking of selling it down the road. Maybe when I get my huge tank.
