Im not a camper LOL I would think 6 months and you know camping grounds have dirty water.

Camp= shower in the lake, restroom in the lake, wild animal use the lake. Your only water source lol

I don't test my waters. The fish seemed fine. I look at the Corys first after a water change because they're small, and if anything is wrong with the water, they'd be the first to show symptoms. Water will almost always look clearer after a water change. It does, however, look cleaner than running water straight from tap. The clarity is comparable to when I was using Ek's little carbon bottle.

Also if any chlorine or junk made its way past the filter, I have a big bottle of safe on hand

I just picked up one from hd and pick up the one from Walmart as well I plan on using them both. How did u cap off the filter which size piping did u use 3/4?

HD and Wal-Mart ones are similar if not the same. I'm not too sure what size it was. I wanted to just stick the end cap on it, but I think the piece of pvc was glued to it so I shoved the back side of the cap into it.

Finally got around to making a better looking and more efficient way of using the in-house canister replacement carbon cartridges. I will post pictures shortly and update the OP with a write-up.
