  • My three tier rack

So ive been thinking about doing this for quite some time, i had 2 free days this week and decided to go at it. Its footprint is made of 2x4 and then skinned with red oak birch wood. I added some trim to make it look better and it came out better than i expected.

I still gotta finish putting the top trim for the lid and paint. But i am in a middle of stand still with paint, idk to go with black, stain, or another color what do you guys think?

    ps. it can fit 3 40B 12 10gal or 3 30l. i am using it for 2 20l and 2 10gal

Looks great! I would stain it or paint it flat black. There's nothing that would match with a stain color in my house, so if I were to paint it, I would go flat black.

        Looks really nice.
Few things i see and notice tho. How are u doing the lights ? And it looks as tho the tanks slide in and there no gap at all ? So how u going to do maintenance on them and where are the filters going. Not dissing ur rack.....lol. Just i made a four tank rack and those were things i saw.

There is a 20in space between each shelf (top to bottom), so i would have plenty of room to do wc on a 20l which is only 12in high if that. and the top shelf has lid that opens upwards, if i were to put a 40b it would be on the top shelf. Also all the filters are hob and i am leaving some space from the wall to access them through the back if i need to

As for lights i am mounting to the center beam of each shelf beginning with the second shelf. It will be an led spotlight like the one sunny has for his diy.

I should of said this each shelf measures 41in by 20in so there is plenty of room to wiggle around. is not a perfect fit for the tanks
