hlp! seal drilled hole...

I got a 20 gallon aquarium that has a hole in the back glass and sealed it with plexiglass but i had the plexi for a while so it cracked and started leaking, so what i wanted to know is. Can i use some thick rubber to seal the hole? The rubber is the only thing i have on hand other than the plexi and i'm not trying to use that again.

Keep in mind that the rubber is just a temp. fix . I would go with a piece of glass sealed with silicone .

I suggest you catch them the next time petco has it's $1.00 a gal deal. You probably have spent enough on stuff already that you could have just replaced it.

i spent 5 bucks on the silicone...the rubber is from an old rockband drumset and its holding quite nicely i may add.

+3 you have to be careful when dealing with an aquarium and repairs. It holds until it no longer holds then you get a bunch of water on the floor. You got electrical plugs that may get wet, could walk by and get zapped.

Glass is better. Plexiglass will not bond to glass with silicon. A bulkhead with a plug is a far better option.
