well, thank you all very much for the help and generous offers, but nothing will need to be done.
i got home 30 minutes ago, and he is back to normal
i dont understand, i left this morning, and he still had the eye bulging outward.
i came home 6 hours later and hes fine
im completly dumbfounded, i have no idea how something that appeared so severe could heal that quick
his eye is completly normal, but his stomach is still somewhat fat, but hes eating like a little pig again.

anywho, i guess its gone, if it comes back, i will post.

what should i do then, i can afford to treat the entire 125g with merycin.

should i just add the salt to the 125g?
and will it hurt the free swimming fry if i do?

It would be better to use a 10 gallon tank if you had one....I have a spare, but I would like it back if you do wish to use it.

hes in my 125g with my breeding pair o gold saums and a male lyonsi.
i am running 2x emperor 280's, i no its not adequate, but its working, i do 80% wc every week,
    ammonia 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 0
    ph 7.1
    temp steady at 81

everyone else is fine except him.

he does get chased quite often by the gold saums, because they are rearing fry.
    but so does everyone else.

    i to dislike using meds.
but in a case like this, i dont know what else to do.

as soon as the moneys available, i am going to add an fx5 to this tank, but this weekend im working on doing the emperor modifactation i saw on johns emeprors.

i think i am guna pull him out of the tank, put him in a bucket with an airstone and a heater, and add some salt and pimafix to the bucket to see if this helps.
if that doesnt work, i will try some merycin with the salt.
i think he might just have a blockage.
hopefully the salt will help him move it.

    anybody else have any ideas?

hows the water quality in the tank.if your fish has pop eye,and no one is picking on him,its a water quality issue.it will usually go away on its own.the belly issue is gonna be a problem.without seeing the fish-tank,i'd say the water quality was off, stressed the fish a little, made him subseptable to bact. infection.i'll guess he's breathing hard.i dont really use meds in my tanks much, dont have advice in that area.make sure water quality and filter are perfect.good luck.

started a topic Male A. Sajica

    Male A. Sajica

    i have a couple ?'s.
i have a little male Archocentrus Sajica, ~2"t.
i have had him for alittle over 3 weeks.
he was fine up until 2-1/2 days ago.
he has since developed what almost looks like pop-eye,
and his stomach is extremely distended.
he doesnt eat much, so i am quite sure its not do to overeating.
he hasnt lost any color, just really bloated looking, and his left eye is somewhat distended outwards.
like i say, this came out of nowhere!
any ideas as to what might be causing this and how to treat it?
Working...
