        Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I bought one used from the guy who sold me his 150, and he had some stuff he called "organic resin". not sure if that is the proper name but it cleaned up my water in about an hour. he said he bought it from Extreme

Depends on which Eheim Canister we're talking here.

Generally, I put 1-4L of Effimech, then a medium-grade sponge, then Bio-Media 2L-14L worth of Substrat, Substrat-Pro, or Bio-Bale. Then I top off with Chempure and Fine Filtration Pads.

I run 2 2217s on my 125. One contains the ceramic rings and the coarse sponge. The other has the rocks (substrat?) and a coarse sponge. I have prefilter sponges on both intakes.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

All of the aove...i use everything mentioned above (in multiple canisters).....

Personally, it seems to me, the tighter the canister is filled, the better filtration it provides.
