Wasted about 30 minutes of research on a reactor for the purigen and found that using it in a reactor is a great way to ensure full contact with all of the purigen instead of just some of it, however it exhausts itself much more rapidly. This information makes me question how I will use this stuff. All in all an internal media reactor would be great, but so would throwing it into a canister and forcing water to move through it. I may look into getting a smaller canister (2213) to test some theories.

I would put a few bags around the return pump because 80% water will contact the purigen before get back to the tank . Put purigen in canister is great but hard to know when you need recharge it and I am sure you will clean the filter weekly but Purigen can turn brown or black in few days, it is depend you stock.

It's all about contacting time. The reactor toss the Purigen around, so more surface is in contact with water and for a longer time than a canister. That's why it makes most sense to separate it into more smaller bags.010G Long fin BN grow-out

Good to know. Appreciate the info. Water changes will take care of most of what the purigen is going to go after. If i put it in it's own canister it will be checked but it wont be cleaned weekly.
