If you're using pool filter sand from leslies, you don't need to rinse at all. It's already cleaned. Only thing I would do is after putting it in tank, and filling it up would be to toss on an old HOB filter and some filter pads and swoosh around the sand to release small particles and let the hob pick it up. It takes maybe 24h for the samd to be completely clear that way

i did get it from leslis but it wasnt their brand. and i dont have a spare filter that would fit there. a 10g filter is to small to place there. i will remove the emperor 400 from my set up and remove the pad and place some old pads i had and see if that works. i do have a canister on the current set up. the 15g i place there yesterday was chocolate looking in the morning.

Same here. I bought three bags but it was some seagull brand and not the Leslie's brand

yeah, thats what i got too. when i placed it in the bucket and water it was immediate chocolate water. it was cheaper than what the website said but lets hope its the same quality

Odd, no more than 4-5 months ago I got my sand from leslies. It wasn't their bran but still showed it as cleaned/filtered

oh yeah, they still sell filter sand just not the leslis brand like they show on their website.

Ok im going to go buy a bag of sand and put it in you tank. Ill bet you all my fish and tanks that it will destroy your tank bro how can you say that it is rinsed. Youve been drinking again? I thought we talked about that A

Well that's good to know. I wonder if TexSun PFS has the same issue? I bought 80 lbs of it late last year and it barely clouded up the water so I imagine it was pre-rinsed.

The pool sand I got at Leslies is the new style they carry. I had to rinse it also. It was real brown when you mixed the sand and water with your hand.

The bag says it was cleaned and rinsed 3 times but I dumped it in and same problem as R. Lol next time I'll just clean it again in a bucket.

well i did rinse it 3 times and i stir it in the bucket, as right now the few water i had places is about 50% clear but once i place the other 50gs i bet it will be choco water again.

FYI the RV drinking water hose at walmart is 25ft for $10. it was to short for me. i will go to home depot later on to see if i can find a longer one. mean while i plan on stealing my python back. and i will try to build one like Camaros sample. i have seen John (fsshk i think) used something similar to it.
