  • Cleaning a Salt water tank for Fresh water

    Hey guys,

    I have a quick question, I had clean a fresh water tank before with white vinegar to remove the calcium and stains, but this time I am cleaning a Salt water tank and I will be using it for fresh water. what should I use or do to clean it and remove all the salt and calcium stuck in the glass and silicone.

    it is a 75G
    75g Tank,
    2- Wild Scalare Angel 2-wild Angel snakeskin, 2-half blue half black Angels, 5-Guianacara Geayi, 4- Blue Rams(1m/3f), 1- L144, 1- Pleco unknown type 1-Blue Neon Goby
    2.5g Mini Monter - Shrimp Tank
    10-RCS, 1-Red Sakura 5-Malawa, 8-Boraras Brigittie, 1-Adonis Pleco, 1-Zebra Nerite, 1-Horned Nerite
    10g Tank
    Hospital 2-F. Endlers

        ok good. you think 1 gallon will work or ill need more vinegar?

          Depends on how bad the tank is i usally just use what i have an if i need more i get more never really plan it out

            The salt deposits should just come off with water, cant beat vinegar for calcium, and as Johnny said a razor blade, (carefully) for the coraline. IMHO

              the salt/calcium is not bad just on the top so i guess it will not be hard. compare to the tank John gave me last year that did take some elbow grease to clean. the guy that sold it to me had it nice but he join the army and when he came back from training his fish were al dead adn he didnt wanted to restart again. i got the tank only and like maybe 10lbs of dry liverock for $40
