How long do carbon bottles last?

    The thing is I don't think they fill it completely with carbon. They have other filtering media in the tank from what I've heard. Looking at the tank I have I don't think you can DIY the media. I might be wrong though..

    The quality of the water will go back to how it was before running through the carbon. Smell and everything comes back when the carbon has gone bad

    How long do carbon bottles last?

    I had African cichlids and they did fine with the water softener coming out the tap. I did however run into problems when I started keeping WC Tropheus. I had to get a carbon bottle and splice before softener before things got better
