  • Covering up holes in a drilled tank

Does anyone have any experience in plugging a drilled tank? I'd rather not do anything permanent like silicon a piece of glass over the holes. Searching the web points to some bulkheads and a "bulkhead plug" fitting. Can anyone point me towards a few different options (threaded, plug, etc). Anyone have any experience and can offer any advice?

I'd like to switch to a typical "over the back" filtration set up... the risers from the bottom get in the way with cleaning and my plans for future decor... thanks!

I would used those hose to hve a cleaner looking tank but ur easiest option of covering them holes is to put a glass over and silicone it down

Maybe I should just cut the risers down. Their height is the main issue.

If u cut it to low ur sand or substrate will get sucked in

they make hole covers for electrical boxes that have to have a good enough seal to prevent water spray and/or hazardous gases ingress. they are made by companies like hoffman and b-line and are made up of two stainless steel discs with a gasket on the inside of each disc. one of the gaskets is often stepped to fit inside the hole and is the approximate thickness of the enclosure material, which in this application would be the glass. the outer cover has a stud welded to it and the inner one has a hole for this stud to pass through upon which a wingnut is tightened down. now water spray isnt water immersion so i might change the gaskets out to a more dense gasket material or make my own so there was a pretty good overhang around the hole but something like this could work. this is where i type the disclaimer that i have never actually tried it lol.
