i would like to get a small tig setup too, saw some reasonable units from campbell (or some other in an autobody catalog) i believe but i only barely weld and so far i have only tried aluminum unistrut. SS is expensive but if you get it down you can only barely see the weld. we used to have an orbital pipe / tube welder at work and that thing was awesome. i never had the chance to hook myself up with aquarium manifolds tho lol.

I would go with a Miller set up. I was Air Craft certified in all kinds of crazy alloys but they have expired...

Never really dealt with wood... But I would reinforce so nothing happen.. Haha

Me personally I would have reinforce the top...Rather over do the stand than have a stand collapse on me half way through the set up.

Sounds like somebody not confident of their wood.

I wasn't pointing anything fingers at you Jeff Just a general statement on how ppl over-build stands that are heavy and hard to move around.

LOL my little 10g stand I made has some thick a$z wood! I think 2"? It was laying around the patio so I just went ahead and saved myself a few bucks and cut that up
