If someone can test this and report back, it would be greatly appreciated! Anyone know if you can get this part from City Pets?

It's been done over and over on the reef forums. Everyone's reporting that the pumps are identical except for that part. And people have done it and notice more flow. I don't know if it matches the flow of a 1262 but it does have a gain.

I'll do it when the part gets here and report back. I'll just have to figure out how to open it. Someone claims it took 30 seconds to change out. lol.

It would nice if someone also had one of those devices that measures how many watts an appliance is drawing.

Aggro, I definitely agree there's an increase in flow but it's gonna be interesting to see if it matches the flow of a 1262.

as far as all the external parts go, the only difference in the 1260 and 1262 is the pump cover and the only difference in the 1262 and 1264 is the pressure side fitting (they use the same pump cover). i have no idea on the motor itself since that part isnt called out and i havent found much info on it.

i have not seen a meter that will be measure watts (they prolly make one but i havent used it) but you can get a cheap device at home depot to measure current draw (amps) and then calculate power (watts) by using the formula watts = amps x volts

what are the flow ranges we are talking about here? i may be able to borrow a flowmeter from work out of our test department if we really gotta know!

nick, a truly smart person knows what things he should be thinking about and what isnt worth it...you are the smart one here lol.

now more thinking, since the performance curve between the two both originate from close to the same point (~11'6" to 12'1" ft of head pressure at 0 gph) and due to the fact that while the 1262 has a higher rated flow it has a lower rated head pressure, i would say its probably the same motor and the flow capacity is a function of a larger orifice size. they are listed as being the same size physically but the 1262 is .3 lbs lighter. so....hmmm

                          I'm not thinking...

I am interested in the difference between pumps just pretending not to care lol

The cover on the 1260 has more plastic which explains the weight difference?

That's interesting because I've changed the pressure side fitting on my two 2262 to 1", so does that mean the pumps on those canisters is a 1264?

So by changing out two parts, you can turn a 1260 into a 1264?

But is that amount that's missing 4oz of plastic? That's a lot.
