  • Carib Sea agronite substrate ?

I recently picked up 4 40# bags of this stuff for my tank .
Well I rinsed it in a bucket a pillow case for a good while, then proceeded to put it in the tank .
Now it's been in for 6 days with fx5 running full of pillow stuffing hob full ,I've wc about 1000 gallons of water and
    it's still cloudy !
What do I do? I'm about ready to pull it all out !I need to move the mbu to a bigger tank now he's better but this stuff wont clear!
    Any advise is welcomed PLEASE!
    Thanks

i just bought 3 x 40# more for my 300G (240LBS TOTAL) and clean it very well. U have to clean 1/3 of the bag at time and rinse it throughly like 8-10 rinse. I then put the corals into my fishnet and rinse it twice before putting it into the tank. Make sure to take the water level as low as U can and then refill.

Thats almost everything I did with exception of the fish net which I may do ! Yea I use the python and take it all the way down .
Did yours cloud up any after your cleaning method?
If so how long does it take to clear i'm ready to put fishies in there !
Do you have any more ideas ?

Hum maybe i'm messing up by stirring it ? But i hate to get fish in their moving it and it gets cloudy .IDK I'm doing something wrong if it only took yours a hr. Maybe i do need to "rinse " the filter itself not just change the floss , let me try that duh that may be my trouble

LOL...u cant stir it up man leave it alone and let the filter do the rest. U can siphoned the powdery substance with that Vac.

You just changed out the pad so it's gonna take a little longer to get the water clear... What I heard was new filter pad takes a little longer help the water clear.. But onces it up and running for a little while it will clean out the water fast..

And yea don't stir it up lol it's just gonna make your water milky. Just like JT said. Use the gravel cleaner.

If you really want to clean it pull it all out, pour into a cooler and bury the water hose at the bottom and blast it for a few hours.

I do that with all substrate I buy and it always comes out crystal clear.

Once you get all the dust out the fish can move it around all the want and it'll be ok.
